-The artistic research project "Breathing Datais based on a self-experiment. It is not about testing new pharmacological substances as in classical self-experiments in medicine, but about the effect of personalized measurement techniques (bio feedback, body tracking, self-quantification) on individual behavior – and vice versaThe application area of the research is breathingin particular the basic assumption that conscious application of breathing techniques can directly influence various body functions. The project involves the specific learning of breathing techniques (pranayama), the scheduled application of these techniques, and the collection and comparison of the data obtained. Throughout the project, the focus is on the interaction between the objectively collected data and the subjective state of mind determined by interoceptionThus, the focus of attention is the space that opens up between a subjectively and physically //felt// change and objectively //measured// medical data. This "dialogue with the data" will generate a narrative in which the distinction between perception and measurement, between consciousness and body, and thus between mind and matter will be set in vibration.+Breathing Data” is based on a self-experiment. The subject of the study is the body –and the mind– of the artist researcherOver the course of the three-month research project, the test subject performs daily breathing exercises and collects body data using various sensor technologies. Starting point is the assumption that a measurable improvement of body-related data such as heart rate, HRV, breathing rate and quality of sleep occurs through the regular and conscious application of the exercises. The research process is guided by the questions of whether and how daily collection of body data changes one's behavior, whether and how daily practice is reflected in the data, and whether data-based practice fundamentally has more positive or negative effects

Throughout the project, the focus will be on the interaction between the objective data collection and the subjective state of mind identified through introspectionA “dialogue with the data” becomes the basis of a narrative in which objective measurements enter into a dialogue with the notation of subjective experiences, thus vibrating the relationship between perception and measurement, between consciousness and body, between mind and matter.
